If I Were A Road

tunnel-1056859-640x480If I were a road I would plunge through the surface, into the depths of this life. I’d journey upward and outward, to the vast space beyond. I would travel the stars and the universe, and spiral with planets as far as can be. Along the way I would travel through time and wind myself back like a grandfather clock. I would cherish the memories unfolding before me. The earliest memories of humankind would flash by like the blur of a landscape moving swiftly past the side window of a traveling car.

Flying through time I would catch glimpses of people, vibrant and real making up pages of earth’s history. I would slow down and pause as I rambled where Jesus had walked. I’d hang up a stoplight where Gandhi had been. I’d rest for a while and encounter Mohamed. We would gaze at the stars and see God and Allah and Brahman in them.

If I were a road I would traverse the layers of existence and discover where time began. I would pause in my travels to catch the first Light as it expanded and vibrated and became the waters and dry land. I would curve and I’d spiral following along, with the unfolding nature of humankind Then I would find myself in my own childhood yard. I’d watch myself on my swing set, the dog nipping my butt as I flew through the air. I would travel around to the place called Virginia where my brother boarded a navy ship. I’d visit him in his youth, so vibrant, so excited as he sailed off to see the world. I’d stop in Onaway at my father’s childhood home. I’d catch glimpses of what it was like to grow up in that home, bursting with children the adults speaking French. I’d hear the laughter of little ones running about. I’d see the sweat on the older one’s brows as they worked outside in the fields.

If I were a road, I’d wander about, finding pieces and glimpses of how I began. I’d discover my birth was not here on this earth. I’d find that I’d started before I began. I’d pause at the moment the first thought was expressed. I’d let go of all else as I mapped out my path. I’d see what has been went just like I planned, the valleys and vistas all there in my hand. I’d discover my journey continues, yet never began. It spirals and curves and floats up and down. It moves without moving then settles again. I’d gaze with great wonder at its natural bends. I’d pause for a while then roam quietly forward again. If I were a road, I’d begin and then end at the place where all thought first began.

The Breath of God

breath-cc-16193758604_c24b91a8cc_mBREATH, the air that is inhaled and exhaled is evidence of the miraculous interconnectedness of all life.  The BREATH I hold in this moment, is the breath you exhaled only moments before.  The BREATH I release will soon be held be another.  BREATH and Spirit are synonymous, both having the same meaning and origins.  The first BREATH is the BREATH of God and we each continue to draw in and release the original BREATH.  We are one with God, one with all that is, in a continuous exchange of the invisible substance of Spirit.  God BREATHES through me and God BREATHES through you.  BREATH is Spirit moving, creating, blessing, cleansing, renewing and revitalizing.  This is a miracle of Life and all I have to do to experience it is BREATHE.

A Miracle A Day, Day 119

tent-cc-7732621858_74d3e3b1fd_mTENTS seemed quite a miraculous thing to me as a child.  I recall pinning a blanket to the top of the fence in a neighbor’s yard, stretching it out and holding the lower edge with rocks to form my own little refuge from the world.  Inside the TENT we could hide, giggle, tell stories and share secrets. It was a world unto itself, yet temporary, easily moved to another place for another day.  Have you ever thought about the physical forms that we walk around in as being like those TENTS?  Our bodies provide a virtual TENT in which we can find a bit of refuge from the vastness of the universe.  They are a private place in which we hold our own personal thoughts and ideas.  We tell ourselves stories about the world and our lives.  Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry.  And when we close our eyes we can close out the physical world around us and reconnect with the vastness of the universe, with the very essence of Life which is greater than all the stories we tell ourselves.  A TENT is a miraculous idea providing shelter wherever we go.  Our bodies, the physical body, the energy body, and the spiritual body, provide a place of refuge too. Within them we can close the door to outer appearances aligning our minds with the Mind of God, the ultimate shelter that transcends time and space and all that has appeared before us.

A Miracle A Day, Day 118

river-cc-16328391906_5645a821d2_qRIVERS are the miraculous pathways the crisscross the earth moving life-giving water from one place to another.  Like streams of energy, they move toward the lowest ground.  Our spiritual body is an intricate system of energies connected by streams of thought, intention and vibration.  Unlike RIVERS of water, we can easily direct the flow of energy in our being. We can choose to let it flow to the lowest space in our consciousness. Or, we can choose to direct our energies higher and bring the entire being into a state of balance or homeostasis.  RIVERS are a manifestation of the miraculous process of flow infinitely occurring in our minds and in the universe.  When we become aware of this process and our ability to direct the flow it becomes irresistible to step into it. And then, we become the RIVER crisscrossing the field of consciousness moving and directing life-giving energy from one thought to another.

Clairvoyance

cc-clairvoyanceCLAIRVOYANCE, the ability to see beyond what is currently visible to the human eye is the miracle of Spiritual Vision or seeing with the Mind’s eye.  This is not an ability conferred upon the few, but an ability inherent in all.  If I invite you to think about a blue butterfly, an image comes to mind of a blue butterfly.  It may not be a picture-perfect image, but you know what you are seeing in your mind’s eye. The “Clairvoyant” has simply learned to utilize this invisible sense to a higher degree.  Seeing the invisible, that which has not yet occurred or that which occurred millennia ago only requires that we transcend what the physical eyes behold.  Time, is an illusion, relative to our current position in the universe. In Spirit, all things occur simultaneously so seeing what has not yet occurred is simply looking beyond what the physical eyes, bound by time and space are beholding.  With practice, we can increase the ability to SEE beyond the physical, to SEE beyond the appearance of limitation and separation.  We do not alter the future in doing so. Instead, we alter our own consciousness which in turn changes what we bring forth next.  CLAIRVOYANCE, is the miracle of Spiritual Sight inherent in all.  It is intended to be utilized, not “… hidden under a basket.”

EVOLUTION

cc-evolutionSome would say that EVOLUTION is not a miracle; it’s just the nature of things.  Some might even be opposed to the concept of EVOLUTION as it challenges their religious beliefs. But in Truth, EVOLUTION is not only a miracle, EVOLUTION IS God.  God is the One Power, One Presence, One Activity of the universe.  God is Omnipotence, All-Power.  Without the Activity of EVOLUTION, life would be stagnant, unchanging, not alive. God is Life itself, infinitely moving, breathing, unfolding in and through all that we call creation.  EVOLUTION is the miracle of God continuously renewing Life.

A Miracle A Day, Day 97

telescope.cc.2461355915_755e9708eb_mA TELESCOPE houses a set of lenses that allow us to see over a great distance.  As I look through my telescope I can see the eagles nesting in the cellular tower ½ mile away.  They are just tiny specs, almost imperceptible to my physical eyes, but focusing this set of lenses I can see them as they build their nest, raise their young and then fly off to distant places. Through these lenses I can see the stars, satellites passing by, and the craters of the moon.  I can see things that are always there but too far away to see.  Did you know that we each have a telescope within us?  There are lenses we see through that can be focused to see more clearly.  We call this perspective and we can choose a new perspective any time.  We can also widen the lens to include other perspectives, gaining a greater view. We also have within us the ability to see the invisible.  Some call this faculty the third eye. Some call it clairvoyance.  The Hebrew Scriptures called those who could see the invisible prophets.  This inner telescope does not need to stretch out to see more clearly.  Rather, we simply need to allow the physical eyes to grow dim, to see through them less and behold instead the vision within us.  Seeing through spiritual eyes is like viewing a holograph that takes shape in our very midst.  The holograph is malleable, formable and greatly responsive to Light.  As I view the holographic image of myself and the world around me I see more clearly.  Judgment transforms to discernment.  Heaviness transforms to movement. Shadows become illuminated. Telescopes are miraculous devices and the telescope in me is miraculously and wondrously made.

A Miracle A Day, Day 96

bridge.dreamstimefree_216398BRIDGES are a miracle of human ingenuity.  A bridge allows passage across great expanses of water or great chasms in the earth.  BRIDGES are wonderful feats of engineering, and they are replicas of BRIDGES within us.  Our brains create BRIDGES, or neural pathways, connecting various neurons, and increasing our capacity to acquire, store and take new action on new information. There is a mighty but invisible BRIDGE from head to heart that connects the Power of Divine Love with the thinking and feeling natures, creating greater balance and healthier, more compassionate choices in our lives.  And then, there is an innate BRIDGE, seldom fully traversed, that provides a pathway from the personal consciousness to the higher or Christ consciousness.  Stepping across this BRIDGE, we bring the personal consciousness under the direction of the Christ Mind and we are transformed.

A Miracle A Day, Day 95

SMILE.dreamstimefree_237722SMILES.  What else needs to be said?  A SMILE is a miracle.  A simple facial gesture that speaks volumes without uttering a word.  It conveys happiness, joy, love, connection, approval, acceptance, delight, recognition and so much more.  The SMILE of a sleeping infant warms the heart like nothing else.  We watch and wonder what image floats across the mind of this tiny, helpless being that causes it to SMILE.  The SMILE of a loved one lets us know they are happy and this brings us joy.  The SMILE of a stranger can brighten an otherwise gloomy day.  When we SMILE, we project an energy of love, creating a stream of good that lifts us and those around us to a higher vibration. SMILE and make a miracle right now.

A Miracle A Day, Day 94

MIRROR.CC.26473288921_86c1832d80_mMIRRORS provide us with the opportunity to see ourselves as others see us.  That first moment when humankind caught a glimpse of self in a still pond must have been an amazing experience.  There would have been an instant of recognition of the self being much like the others in the clan, yet somehow different and distinct.  MIRRORS that reflect our physical appearance give us that opportunity today; a glimpse of the self as a similar, yet unique member of the human experience. Metaphorical MIRRORS provided by other people in our lives reflect characteristics we may not have noticed or owned about ourselves. These are MIRRORS that help us grow and evolve in self-awareness. But there is yet another type of MIRROR that reflects much more than our physical being.  There is an inner MIRROR that gives us a view of who we are beyond our physical appearance.  Because it is within however, does not make it small.  Instead, this is a MIRROR without limit.  It might be called a “cosmic” MIRROR, one which reflects the image and likeness of God in us.  This MIRROR sees through the physical being and beyond the perceived limitations and cultural baggage we might carry.  This MIRROR allows us to see ourselves as a member of an infinite, ever-expanding clan of consciousness, yet a unique and individualized expression in it.  This is a reflection that lifts us into seeing and being all that we are meant to be.  MIRRORS are miraculous and they are all around us and deep within us.
