A Miracle A Day, Day 54

dreamstime_xs_60080953 (cropped)DISCERNMENT, the ability to hold two or more perspectives and choose from an inner knowing of the highest good, is the miracle of Divine Wisdom flowing through.  When faced with challenging choices, we can focus our attention on the challenge or we can take some quiet time to connect with a greater Power within us.  Releasing images of outcomes formed by fear, we can focus our attention on a higher good.  We can use our past experiences, filter them with Love, Wisdom and an expanded understanding of our oneness in Spirit to make healthy and centered choices.  Balance scales are a widely used icon for judgment and rightly so.  It is from a balanced consciousness, with all spiritual faculties awakened and working together that we most fully utilize our power to Discern.

I Love A Parade

paradeI Love a parade! From Memorial Day to Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day; and the Rose Bowl Parade they all have these three things in common; the sights, the sounds and the motion.

From frivolity, to politics, to honor, parades have a rich and colorful history dating back as far as Mesopotamian rulers who paraded their conquests as a show of power.  One rather famous parade of power is that of the Israelites around the city of Jericho causing the wall of the city to tumble down.

The parade was led by seven priests, carrying seven trumpets, parading around the city for seven days, and then seven times on the seventh day. Seven indicates completion.  In the description of the Jericho parade, seven appears five times suggesting all levels of being and all senses aligned, marching together, in a harmonious movement, shouting words of power.

Imagine the sight of the Israelite priests in their priestly garb following a great golden ark like a float in a parade.  Imagine the movement of this assembly along a unified route around and around the city. Imagine the sound of the trumpets playing and the shouts of the people.  Imagine a vibration so profound that the walls of the city begin to vibrate and disintegrate.  That is a display of Power!

The battle of Jericho is an intriguing event in the history of the Israelites.  But the more interesting story is the one beyond the historical account.  The metaphysics of the story reveal a powerful tool for spiritual unfoldment.

The priests are Levites, the tribe that does not own land, that which is not attached to matter.  The repetition of the number seven represents all levels of being and all physical senses working in unison.  The seven trumpets, blown on the seventh day represent the WORD, the vibration, an affirmation of all that is Spiritual and whole.

Jericho was the first Israelite conquest following forty years in the wilderness escaping bondage in Egypt.  From bondage to victory, Israel continued conquering other lands, always preparing for the next battle.  Until Jesus, the one who was to save them, who turned out not to be a warrior. Jesus held a higher ideal than victory.  He demonstrated being a vessel of God with no sides, no judgment, no battle.  Out of this vessel consciousness awakens the CHRIST, fully at one with Spirit.

Today we stand at the edge of an awakening Christ consciousness, knowing that in Spirit there is no land to conquer, only harmony and wholeness to be revealed. Let the walls of resistance come tumbling down. Form a parade of Sights, Sounds and Movement at all levels of being.  See only floats of oneness.  March in alignment with Truth at all levels of being.   Sound the trumpets, affirming Truth in all that you speak.  Let the walls come tumbling down to reveal our oneness in the kingdom that has no ends, no walls, and no-thing to conquer.

A Miracle A Day, Day 48

courage.jpgCOURAGE is the miracle of a heart that is strong in Spirit.  The word courage comes from the Latin word “cor” which means heart.  COURAGE is the ability to say or do or stand for something in spite of any fear that may present itself.  Usually associated with acts of physical bravery, the COURAGE to speak one’s mind, to stand in one’s Truth, to live the Truth in a world that contradicts Truth is an even greater expression of this very spiritual attribute of humankind.  COURAGE draws together the powers of Love and Strength and expresses them as a steadfast Faith in wholeness that lies beneath appearances.  Fear is ultimately a result of a belief in separation from one’s Source. COURAGE denies the validity of that fear and rests in the wholeness and oneness of Spirit.

rock climbing.2425052047_37c19eac29_qRELEASE is the ability to let go of something or to cause something to be freed.  What a miraculous feeling it is to RELEASE a fear or thought that has held me captive.  As a new rock climbing enthusiast I can appreciate the physical ability to RELEASE one rock in order to grasp the next.  RELEASING my grip on the hold requires strength and faith.  I must build my muscles so I can reach, push and pull, but I must also trust that my partner and climbing equipment will keep me safe.  With the powers of strength and faith I let go of the rock I have held so tightly and grab the next one, climbing a little higher.   The same is true of my thoughts and fears and long-held limiting beliefs.  I must have strength and faith in the power and presence of Spirit to let go and let God.  As I RELEASE what I have held tightly; fear, judgment, pain, shame or blame, I find that the next and higher thought is right there within my grasp and I climb a little higher in mind and Spirit.  Yes, RELEASE is a miraculous quality of both the human experience and the spiritual evolution of my highest Self.

A Miracle A Day, Day 45

imageLife itself is a miracle, therefor every attribute of it is also a miracle. Today I contemplate the POWER of WILL. Different from will power which is engaged in the process of abstinence from something, the Power of WILL is my ability to align with a greater Will than my own. The power of WILL is the faculty I use to direct my thoughts, my words and my actions to achieve a specific outcome. It is also the faculty of choice. I can use my power of WILL to appease the needs of the ego, or I can choose a greater WILL that fulfills my innermost spiritual desires and contributes to the needs of the whole. What a joyful experience it is to align with Divine Will and BE the individualized expression of God that I am meant to be.

wellThe WELLSPRING within is the miracle of Oneness with Spirit, the source of Life, Harmony and Joy.  Deep within each of us is a place where joy never ceases, where peace and harmony are the constant state of being.  When we draw on this invisible Source, we access the Water of Life that Jesus spoke of to the Samaritan woman at the well.   This powerful conversation is often understood as Jesus’ demonstration of inclusiveness.  Although it is certainly that, the conversation reveals much more.  Ultimately, this conversation reveals a whole new perspective of God as Spirit, as comforter, as the quencher of all thirst. As we come to understand that the Christ Mind that was in Jesus is also in each of us we find that the WELLSPRING that quenches all thirst is within us and it never runs dry. This is the miracle we will explore at tonight’s Meditation and Metaphysical Musings service at Unity of Livonia at 7:00 pm.  Come rest awhile in the WELLSPRING within and experience the miracle within you.

wisdomWISDOM is the ability to hold more than one perspective, informing our decisions and choices from a deeper sense of knowingnesss.  A miracle of spiritual consciousness, WISDOM is a gift that connects the human mind with the Mind of God.  Divine WISDOM is more than intellect or common sense.  It is the knowingness of all things whispered to the mind through the “Still Small Voice.”  Accessing inner WISDOM we make choices that align with our highest good. King Solomon in the Hebrew Scriptures asks God for WISDOM over riches, honor and wealth for WISDOM aligns the heart and mind with Mind of God from which all true riches flow.

heartCOMPASSION, the ability to feel another’s pain or sorrow, transcends the ego and accesses the spiritual faculty of love.  It is a feeling that connects us and encourages us to focus on our oneness rather than our separation.  COMPASSION is a miraculous ability as it defies the instinct for survival of the self and recognizes the significance of the well-being of the whole. In spite of separate bodies, lives, destinies, perspectives and all of the things that reinforce our individuality, COMPASSION reminds us that we are inseparable, one collective consciousness in the mind and heart of God.

A Miracle A Day, Day 35

carAVOIDED ACCIDENTS, you know, those times when you say “…by some miracle I missed that accident!”  I was there this morning, at a dead stop at the end of an exit ramp with cars behind me still traveling 70 mph.  My heart was in my throat as I looked in the review mirror and switched on my emergency flashers hoping they would slow down.  And it worked!  The flashers went on, they swerved away and suddenly there were no more cars coming up the ramp until a huge semi-truck pulled up behind me and stopped blocking any further speeding cars from my path.  Avoided Accident!  Sometimes it is dramatic as an oncoming collision is somehow averted but more often it is subtle. It is that spontaneous decision to take another route, the last minute phone call that has us on the road a few minutes late, or the slow, slow car in front of us that keeps us on the road a little longer. Later we find that had we been “on time” we would have been a part of an accident.  These are the outworkings of a higher power diverting our movement through a universe that can seem chaotic, into a path of safety guided by the unseen divine order some of us call God and many of us recognize as miracles.

Seekers of the Lost Ark, Part 1

In the course of human evolution there comes an ever-expanding understanding of the One Power, One Presence, One Activity we call God, the Good, Omnipotence. Our understanding of God as a judgmental, superhuman ruler shaping the individual lives of humankind has expanded.  Many of us have grown to understand God as the absolute wholeness of Beingness; not All-Powerful, but ALL-POWER. Not loving, but the ESSENCE OF LOVE. NOT a patriarchal entity but a Mother, Father, Everything God in which (as the apostle Paul tells us), we Live, Move and Have Being.

As we grow to understand God as Spirit, as Jesus foretells in his conversation with the Samaritan woman, our understanding of the covenant between God and humankind must also expand. In this three part series, Seekers of the Lost Ark we will explore the mystical significance of the Ark and the Ten Commandments or “agreements” which it contains.

As we look to the deeper meaning of the words engraved upon the tablets we discover that they are more than a list of “shoulds” and “should nots”. Although still relevant today as rules for living together in harmony, an expanded understanding reveals another dimension to the words. They are in fact the “Blessings” of a Mother, Father, Everything God, the very source of our being. Much as a biblical father would bestow his blessing upon a son venturing beyond his father’s house, Spirit bestows upon us these spiritual blessings.

The blessings of Spirit begin with the words, “I AM the Lord YOUR God, you shall have no false gods before me.” I AM is a reference to God’s name, “I AM that I am”… unlimited, infinite possibility, the pure presence of beingness that cannot be limited to a single name. I AM the Lord YOUR God. I AM the essence of life and I am YOURS; personal, immanent, indwelling. Nothing false, nothing that lies before you or outside of you shall have power over YOUR God, the God that dwells within you. This is a blessing. This empowers us to live without fear knowing that there is One Power, One Presence, One Activity that permeates all of life and dwells within us.

This first blessing is then reinforced with the words, “you shall make no carved or engraved images of anything.” In other words, no image, no imagined thing that you engrave in the world shall have power over you. You cannot limit the power of Spirit by creating in your mind or in your life a limited image of what is infinite… try as you might. Another blessing.

“You shall not take the name of the Lord YOUR God in vain.” As a child I understood this to mean I should not swear or curse. And although there is great benefit in keeping our words pure and positive, this statement also blesses us. “You shall not,” means you will not, you cannot call on God in vain. God knows your needs and your desires before you know them yourself. When you call on God it is never in vain, for your prayer, no matter how stated, is heard and answered before you even ask.

You are blessed because God dwells within the mystical ark of your heart. Your work, is to know your oneness in Spirit and then be blessed once again by resting into the Sabbath of the pure presence of being; to Let Go and Let God be expressed through you and as you.

Intrigued? Be sure to read part 2 coming soon as we explore how more of the covenants between God and humankind are blessings upon us.
