A Miracle A Day, Day 93

ducks.cc.Michael Bentley.14128135827_e757af0775_mALIGNMENT, the ability to arrange items or ideas in a correct or appropriate position, creates a portal for miracles to occur.  When baby ducks align themselves behind their mother, they travel in safety as they learn the ways of a duck.  When sea locks are aligned, the levels of two bodies of water are equalized, providing safe passage for ships.  When a chiropractor aligns the discs in one’s spine, there is a greater experience of comfort and health.  When we align our thoughts, words and actions with the greater self, the Christ Mind in us, we create a passageway for God to be more fully expressed and we find that indeed, “… all things come together for good.” ALIGNMENT is a miraculous ability bestowed upon humankind and expressed throughout the manifest world.  What we ALIGN with is a choice, for choice is also bestowed upon us. What will you align with today?

A Miracle A Day, Day 86

anchor.cc.450458917_05a1ffb1e9_qANCHORS are the miracle that keeps us stable in the midst of the waves and winds of life.  When boating, an anchor keeps us in the place of our choosing, minimizing the effect of wind and waves.  As I watched the 4th of July parade from my paddle boat last week I became acutely aware of how an anchor would have been useful.  The wind was gentle but steadily moved me toward a sea of lily pads.  Although beautiful to view, the lily pads get tangled in the paddle wheel and wrap around the rudder making it almost impossible to move or steer the boat.  Much of my time during the parade was spent paddling away from the lily pads.  It was a bit distracting and rather exhausting leaving me with little energy for the return trip.  In our lives, we have a variety of ANCHORS that keep us from drifting away from where we choose to be. Our ANCHORS may be Friends, Family, Mentors, or our Spiritual Foundation.  An affirmation, a statement of Truth or a deep faith in a Power greater than ourselves can ANCHOR us in a stable place of consciousness, reducing the effects of the winds and waves of life.  ANCHORS are a miracle granted to each of us and they sometimes show up in unexpected places, people and events.  For the ANCHORS in our lives to be effective, we have to use them; drop them into the watery energy that is our thoughts, feelings and emotions. ANCHORed in the gifts of Spirit, we remain stable, our rudder stays clear, and we can steer through the winds and waves of life with ease and grace.

A Miracle A Day, Day 73

gravity-ccGRAVITY is a wondrous law of physics that miraculously holds us to an orb spinning through space at a relative speed of 516 miles per second. And this very momentum that seems like it should send us flying through space ourselves is what holds us to the planet.  Physics aside, what a miracle it is that we have been gifted with this life-sustaining planet and the ability to cling to it.  We don’t fall off the planet, yet we are free to move about it.  Through human ingenuity we even find ways to transcend the law of GRAVITY and fly through the skies to arrive at our destinations more quickly.  We break through the law of GRAVITY and explore worlds far beyond our own.  Yet GRAVITY affords us the gift of being grounded to a common base making our oneness indisputable.  Here’s to the miracle of GRAVITY for reminding us that we are one people with one home to love, cherish and protect.

A Miracle A Day, Day 62

GLITTER, that sparkly collection of shiny confetti that brings laughter and squeals from children of all ages is a miracle to behold.  As an adult, I know the drawbacks of glitter.  It’s hard to clean off tables and floors.  It does a number on vacuums and tries the patience of teachers and classroom volunteers.  I know the reasons why we limit its use and I cannot help but agree. But what a wonder to behold when the conditions are right.  It is a glorious substance whether glued to a hand-made greeting card, stuffed as a surprise in an envelope, sprinkled in the hair of a beautiful teen or floating through the air like shining particles of Light and wonder.  The tiniest of mirrors and radiant prismatic colors dance through the air reflecting and refracting all that is there.  Perhaps the joy that is brought forth from this dance is not in the plastic or metal that scatters about.  Perhaps the brightness they bring is the reflection they see.  So small and so tiny perhaps what they see is the tiniest of particles and waves of pure Light that vibrate so fast they can’t be seen by our eyes.  Perhaps they are openings to the space in between.  GLITTER is magic and a miracle to see.

A Miracle A Day, Day 55

bee.dreamstimefree_97143HONEY BEES, once prolific become more scarce each day.  These miraculous little creatures perform a mighty work of service, providing honey for all sorts of purposes, spreading pollen from plant to plant in an endless buzz of activity and delivering wax used for candles, artwork and countless other human endeavors.   Imagine how vital these creatures were to early civilization. Without caring for them there would have been no candlelight by which to read and sew and converse after sunset.  Without them vast amounts of food sources would have become extinct.  They are just as vital to us today.  They ask little in return; simply some safe and sacred grounds for their nests. Don’t confuse these cooperative little friends with more aggressive species who strike for no reason.  They are a precious gift, seemingly unaware of the treasures they provide to humankind.  They give their gift by simply by BEEing themselves. Perhaps we too provide gifts to those around us by BEing our own unique individualized expression of God.  Be your True self. Share your gifts.  They are more vital to the world than you may know.  Give thanks for the miracle of the HONEY BEE, a sacred partner in the delicate balance of earthly life.  Save a HONEY BEE today. Plant a flower.  Support a local BEE Keeping Club. Save a miracle today.

A Miracle A Day, Day 45

imageLife itself is a miracle, therefor every attribute of it is also a miracle. Today I contemplate the POWER of WILL. Different from will power which is engaged in the process of abstinence from something, the Power of WILL is my ability to align with a greater Will than my own. The power of WILL is the faculty I use to direct my thoughts, my words and my actions to achieve a specific outcome. It is also the faculty of choice. I can use my power of WILL to appease the needs of the ego, or I can choose a greater WILL that fulfills my innermost spiritual desires and contributes to the needs of the whole. What a joyful experience it is to align with Divine Will and BE the individualized expression of God that I am meant to be.

A Miracle A Day, Day 34

understandingUNDERSTANDING is one of the “Twelve Faculties of Man” defined by Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity.  UNDERSTANDING is the miracle that allows us to tune into an unexplored concept, to truly consider another’s perspective and to embrace or take on a greater awareness of something.  Ideas, information, new revelations unfold before us every day.  Teachers of all makes and kinds pass through our lives, each offering an opportunity to learn something new or acquire a deeper UNDERSTANDING of something already in the periphery of our awareness.  UNDERSTANDING is a spiritual power activated by our willingness to open our minds and hearts to the activity of God in every moment of every day.  Open and receptive we continue to awaken and expand this spiritual faculty and our UNDERSTANDING of who we are and what we are here to be also increases. UNDERSTANDING is a miracle that expands in us and through us every day in every way.

A Miracle A Day, Day 30

angel.cropped.dreamstimefree_208817ANGELS in the bible are messengers bringing glad tidings, warnings, or inspirational messages from God.  ANGELS in our everyday lives also bring us messages from God, appearing in a variety of forms.  We may see or feel ANGELS as ethereal, spiritual beings offering assistance in our human experience.  We may experience ANGELS as a divine idea, a sudden inspiration or even a voice that guides us in a new or better direction.  We may also experience ANGELS as physical beings who show up in extraordinary ways at right and perfect moments to answer a prayer, offer assistance, guide an important decision or simply reassure us that God is always there.  ANGELS transcend the ordinary and lift us to a higher consciousness. In this way, they are a miracle. Watch for ANGELS today.  They are everywhere, supporting you in miraculous ways.

Miracle A Day, Day 1

rain.dreamstimefree_209423I awoke to the sound of RAIN and recognized rain as a miracle today.  RAIN, washes away dust, it nurtures trees and plants, which in turn nurture me. RAIN moistens the soil for planting, and it causes me to seek shelter, A place of comfort. Today I see RAIN as the miracle it is.  I give thanks for the RAIN that helps to sustain me.  I give thanks for the desire to become quiet and still and seek comfort in the Shelter of Spirit. Thank you God for the miracle of RAIN.

It Never Hurts To Ask

As infants we cry and most often our needs are fulfilled. As we mature, however, this vital step to receiving is sometimes conditioned out of us and we must be reminded that “It Never Hurts To Ask.”  I often heard this from my mother-in-law.  Olga was never afraid to ask.  When she purchased a matress that was too firm, she asked for another.  When the next one didn’t meet her expectations, she asked for another. When the woodgrain of her new dining room table didn’t line up with the leaf inserted, she asked for another. And another. And another.  Olga was persistent in asking until she received what she desired.

Persistence is is embedded in Jesus’ teaching, “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened.” (Matt 7:7-8) His words illustrate for us a three-part, persistent prayer process assuring us whatever we ask for, God will give us.

But this is not always our experience.  I know personally, I’m still waiting for the pony I asked for when I was five!  It seems that some things we ask for are given and others are not.  How do we reconcile this assurance with our experience?

First, let’s look at what we are asking for.  Are we asking for what we truly need or for something that we think will fill an underlying need?   Perhaps our true desire is freedom, security, happiness, peace, love, and a deeper connection with Spirit. Additionally, asking is not intended to stand alone.  It is a first and essential step in a three-part prayer process.  Asking in prayer quiets the ego invoking a deeper connection with the Divine.  Asking clarifies our needs in our own minds and informs those who might be able to fulfill them.

Part two is “Seek and you will find;” another assurance that God will provide.  What we are looking for will show up.   In the Gospel of Thomas, however, Jesus says “Seek and do not cease seeking UNTIL you find.” Seek UNTIL you find encourages persistence. In affirmative prayer, we seek or see only the good; only the answered prayer until it is made manifest.  If we are seeking peace, prosperity, or healing, what are we seeing?  What image are we holding?  See yourself as whole, healed, and peaceful UNTIL it is what you are experiencing.

Part three, “Knock and the door will be opened,” suggests a sound must be made. A knock is a loud noise announcing our presence.  To knock is to AFFIRM the truth in our own minds and in the universe.  It sets the stage for a door to be opened. But what is opened? Is it door number three where the pony is hiding? Or is it the door to our hearts and minds that opens allowing the creative power of God to flow through us?

It never hurts to ask. In fact, asking is the first and most vital key to invoking a connection with God and opening our hearts and minds to receive.  When combined with seeing only the answered prayer and affirming it as done, every door within us becomes open to receive.
