FAITH is the ability to know that what one hopes for is not only possible, but assured. FAITH is the power that pulls us forward when fear and anger seek to freeze us in our tracks. It is the ability to know that peace and wholeness are indeed our birthright and destiny despite what our physical senses are experiencing. To know that something greater exists without seeing it with our eyes is indeed miraculous. No matter how shaken, no matter how small this power may feel, the tiniest amount can fuel our ability to overcome the greatest of obstacles. “… if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Peter, the first disciple called by Jesus is symbolic of the innate capacity. When Jesus told Peter that he was the rock on which he would build his church, he was referring to his capacity for FAITH. A church, despite the immediate images that come to mind, is not a building. It is a body of people with a common belief. FAITH is the rock or foundation upon which all other spiritual faculties are built or brought into an awakened state of being.
